xSwitch is included in the xT911 call handling solution and may also be purchased separately.
Calls to 9-1-1 can come from wireless, VoIP or landline phones. In selecting a switch for your PSAP, your challenges may include:
- Processing VoIP calls and IP communications
- Finding a cost-effective alternative to proprietary, hardware-based phone switches
- Share call information fluidly between PSAPs and first response units on a secure, private network
- Operate as a fully redundant and survivable system
- Route calls spatially, in addition to traditional tabular routing
Integrate with existing equipment
Our Solution
Behind the xT911 call handling solution resides a powerful fully i2 and i3 compliant software-based switch. xSwitch, unlike legacy telephony switches, is IP-based, enabling the switch to leverage the power of an IP network within and outside the PSAP. In addition, xSwitch bridges the gap between the NG9-1-1 world and today. When landline call comes into the PSAP though TDM 9-1-1 trunks, xSwitch makes use of VoIP Gateways that convert the call to IP. However, xSwitch is ready today for processing VoIP and IP communications natively from the internet into the PSAP, enabling processing of VoIP, IM, video and future technologies.
- xSwitch offers revolutionary features for PSAP call handling systems, including:
- A VoIP-based phone system that processes landline, wireless and VoIP calls
- A phone switch that runs on common-off-the-shelf equipment
- By leveraging the power of IP, information is shared fluidly between all 9-1-1 stakeholders–PSAPs, First Responders, Dispatch and Field Offices over a secure, private IP network
- xSwitch is deployed in redundant pairs, with automatic failover should one switch should fail
- An Optional Spatial ACD—in addition to using a built-in Selective Router, a Spatial ACD ensures that calls hitting xSwitch query map data layers before being transferred to the appropriate PSAP and call taker position
- xSwitch will integrate with most popular CAD systems and compliant CPE
