Network Solutions Sales Engineer - Senior Level

LOCATION:

Denver Area, Colorado

POSITION SUMMARY:

microDATA, a 9-1-1 software solutions company, is seeking a Senior Level Network Solutions Sales Engineer with at least 10 years experience in designing, deploying, and managing IP WAN networks, preferably for public safety and/or 9-1-1. The qualified candidate will continue to support our commitment to Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG 9-1-1) technology in the world.

Experience with Internet Protocol and Telephony is essential. As a 9-1-1 Technology Company, microDATA seeks the best network solutions staff available in the country. The Network Solution's Engineer responsibilities include network planning and design for NG9-1-1 ESInets, and all tasks associated with architecting networks for high availability 9-1-1 software systems built by microDATA.

The appropriate candidate should possess knowledge of the 9-1-1 industry and have sales experience, as well as an advanced understanding of network technology. By providing IT expertise, the qualified candidate will serve as a microDATA solution advocate and microDATA spokesperson in the 9-1-1 industry, as well as provide detailed engineering plans for our NG9-1-1 efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in Network Technology or associated field
  • Industry Certifications desired: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Associate ( CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP), CSA; CCIE a plus
  • A minimum of 10 years working in designing, deploying and managing IP WAN networks
  • Experience working with the 9-1-1 industry standards and keeping abreast of what is happening
  • Network planning and design knowledge and experience a must
  • Extensive knowledge of VoIP and deploying networks for VoIP including QoS
  • Experience in deploying mission critical high availability networks
  • Network Security experience (border control function and firewalling, etc.), Security/Risk Management experience
  • Experience with implementation and operation of complex networks
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to become an industry leader
  • Ability to deliver presentations on the technical aspects of our solutions, including the microDATA application that runs on the complex networks
  • Experience/desire to assist in setting 9-1-1 standards for the nation, as well as other countries, as appropriate
  • Available to travel frequently from the Denver office

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide IT Expertise
  • Design and engineer redundant, high availability networks
  • Interface with development/QA for requirements and assure that engineering aligns software requirements
  • Work with telcos to build network connectivity quotes
  • Deploy and manage IP WAN networks
  • Work as a company advocate and spokesperson
  • Assure network security including border control functions and firewalling
  • Learn all aspects of the technology area of the business, including each product and what it does
  • Provide presentations and sales workshops to the 9-1-1 industry regarding standards and technology for the company by creating an awareness of our 9-1-1 compliant solutions/networks
  • Meet with leaders in the industry and keep abreast of new developments
  • Work with technical resources within microDATA to share information and assure our engineered solution is accommodating industry requirements
  • Introduce technical knowledge that will help the company compete and succeed
  • Develop long term plans to meet the IT needs of the company
  • Assure confidentiality and reliability of corporate data, proprietary information and intellectual property
  • Become recognized as a top level contact who can assist end users in determining the best IS requirements for their 9-1-1 system
  • Evaluate and recommend internal and external security measures 
  • Assist in setting 9-1-1 standards for the nation and other countries, as appropriate

Sales Manager (9-1-1 Software)

POSITION SUMMARY:

MicroDATA, a 9-1-1 software solutions company, is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Sales Manager to supervise the sale of our software products throughout the United States. The ideal candidate is capable of coordinating sales distribution for the regional account managers, who report to the Sales Manager, by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals, as well as providing training programs for them. He or she will also analyze sales statistics to determine sales potential and monitor the preferences of customers.

Additionally, the Sales Manager will work with the Sales Engineers in their assessment of needs for customers, as well as other tasks deemed necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage regional and local sales managers
  • Plan and direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales and service programs
  • Review price schedules and discount rates
  • Review operational records and reports to project sales and determine profitability
  • Monitor customer preferences to determine focus of sales efforts
  • Prepare budgets and approve budget expenditures
  • Confer or consult with Inside Sales to plan advertising services and to secure information on equipment and customer specifications
  • Direct and coordinate activities involving sales of 3 rd party products, services, or other subjects of sale
  • Confer with sales engineers regarding equipment the customer needs and advise sales engineers on types of equipment to recommend
  • Advise Regional Account Managers (RAM) and Sales Engineers (SE) on policies and operating procedures to ensure functional effectiveness of business
  • Visit franchised dealers to stimulate interest in establishment or expansion of leasing programs
  • Direct clerical staff to keep records of export correspondence, bid requests, and credit collections, and to maintain current information on tariffs, licenses, and restrictions
  • Review activities in project management, accounting and recordkeeping, and in receiving and shipping operations to assure projects progress as planned
  • Assess sales potential of new RAM locations, considering statistics and expenditures
  • Represent company at trade association meetings to promote microDATA products
