Regional Account Manager

Responsible to manage the sales cycle and client relationships, along with the pre-sale technical solution determination for channel partners and potential and current clients in a given geographic territory, or as directed by the Sales Manager.
The Regional Account Manager provides expert knowledge of our solution and services and provide feedback to the Sales Manager regarding industry trends, pros and cons of how our solution is received and enhancements that need to be made in any area of our business. Plans strategic sales development and meets targets for growth in assigned territory, in a highly competitive market.
Highly motivated, self-learning and disciplined individual with ability to work from a satellite office. Extensive travel (up to 50%) is required. Ability to handle levels of stress normally associated with a marketing and sales environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain current, working, and comprehensive technical knowledge of all microDATA products and services.
- Designs and implements strategies for business development; has overall responsibility for pioneering the development of new business for assigned territories to ensure corporate growth.
- Manages existing channel partner/client relationships; has responsibility for the maintenance and development of business from existing resellers and direct customers. Magnitude of territory will vary from 1 to 10 states, typically.
- Assumes accountability for achieving defined revenue targets through personal involvement and understanding of every aspect of the sales implementation process.
- Develops key, high-level contacts often at the local and state government level to influence decision-makers and strategically position the company for long-term success.
- Consults with customers to analyze and understand their needs, determining which products and services best fit their requirements.
- Provides pricing and proposals for presentation to customers; assembles expertise from other departments to ensure that all technical areas are covered; leads team in making presentation to clients.
- Ability to effectively an independently manage the sales process and sales funnel for their given account region/territory.
- Ability to successfully perform sales prospecting and sales funnel building from a cold start from multiple means, to include, but not limited to: cold calling, email campaigns, mail campaigns, trade shows, networking, etc.
- Provide opportunity triage/review for Sales Manager and Sales Support.
- Attend customer demos and meetings as needed.
- Perform and/or direct customer site surveys.
- Build and produce quote requests as needed.
- Attend national level tradeshows and regional tradeshows (when needed and approved by Sales Manager).
- Be very accessible to customers, channel partners, and microDATA managers/peers whenever reasonably possible to answer questions and provide technical guidance and oversight.
- Build and submit an annual sales plan supporting overall annual corporate sales goals guidelines related to the relevant territory covered.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires a thorough understanding of the 9-1-1 and public safety operating environment, including the increasing role of GIS and Mapping technologies, dispatch functions, PSAP management and agency administration.
- Strong awareness of target markets and product offerings of competitors.
- Working expert knowledge in use of PC applications and PC networks; knowledge of telecommunications, voice & data networks, advanced technologies, etc.
- Knowledge of computers, peripheral equipment, multimedia equipment, pertinent software applications, product demo equipment and individual product software applications.
- Communication skills (presentation, instruction, business case writing, negotiation); Supervisory skills (resolving conflict, communicating expectations, managing performance, providing feedback); Administrative processes (contracting, budgeting, purchasing).
- Effective leadership, communication and strong presentation skills.
- Four years of university, college, or technical school or equivalent work experience and successful completion of in-house training programs.
- Five (5) plus years experience in a 9-1-1, public safety, or largely parallel sales/sales engineering environment providing solutions to government entities.
- Public safety employment experience a plus.
- ENP, GISP, and CISCO certifications a plus.
- Current working knowledge of public safety agency operation and technology, to include 911 telephony, database, GIS, call recording, CAD, RMS, and mobile data.
- Applied experience in the application, design, and implementation of public safety technology solutions.
- Ability to quickly learn, understand, and apply complex public safety technology concepts and solutions.
- Ability to be able to translate between highly technical and layperson approaches to solutions, maintaining accuracy and clarity on both ends.
- Experience in responding to public safety RFPs and competitive bid processes.
- Proven and documented successful sales experience.
