GIS SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS

microDATA, a Vermont based Public Safety Company, is seeking GIS software developers with 5+ years extensive programming experience to work on Enhanced 9-1-1 Software Products.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The GIS Software Developers are responsible for support and enhancement of the current suite of software and assisting the senior development staff in developing new 9-1-1 software.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide software support and enhancements for the Company’s development of 9-1-1 software products
• Utilize your VB6 and ESRI’s MapObjects experience in a Windows environment to support microDATA’s Enhanced 9-1-1 mapping software.
• Work in a team environment to support emergency center clients who use the software in the call centers throughout the US
• Utilize VB.NET and MS SQL Server to assist with developing new 9-1-1 software

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• At least 5 years programming experience using VB.NET and developing software with ArcObjects and/or ArcGIS Engine
• Advanced VB, VB .NET and ASP.NET skills
• Knowledge ESRI’s Map Objects
• Knowledge of SQL Server and Oracle
• Basic IT experience
• GIS experience
• Understanding of 9-1-1 systems a plus
• Ability to integrate hardware via RS232, RS485, and TCP/IP a plus

SOFTWARE DEVELOPER– Senior Position

POSITION SUMMARY:

microDATA is looking for fast paced and flexible individuals who are skilled in enterprise applications relating to VOIP and SIP. The candidates will have a qualified background in enterprise application development. The Senior Software Developers at microDATA are leaders and mentors with superior programming/systems experience in the 9-1-1 industry or equivalent. Their primary responsibility is to develop 9-1-1 software from beginning to end by handling all aspects of the process, which may include leading a team.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Understanding of 9-1-1 or Enterprise Telephony
• Development background in .net; VB.NET is a plus
• Understanding of SQL Server
• Ability to trouble shoot complex problems
• Multithreaded and real-time application development  experience
• Working knowledge of TELCO fundamentals, including digital and analog trunks
• VOIP/SIP application development experience is a big plus
• CTI Experience is a plus
• Experience working with Dialogic API is a plus
• C++ background is a plus
• Ability to work with SIP and VoIP

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop 9-1-1 software
• Utilize VB.NET, SQL Server 2005/2008, ADO.NET, and Infragistics
• Provide Telephony & VoIP expertise

• Troubleshoot complex problems

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to work on multiple projects at a time, and as a member of each project team. You may act as a project team lead and/or mentor.
• You will be required to work on complex projects that require both depth and breadth of knowledge in a number of technologies and the business.
• Participate on, and provide leadership (technical or project) to project team, clarifying the business requirements, performing systems analysis, development and modification activities, as well as related maintenance & support.
• Responsibilities include but are not limited to participating in, or leading planning sessions with the business users to analyze business requirements, and provide design recommendations.
• Responsible for writing technical specifications. Provide design recommendations, developing applications and custom integration solutions, including major enhancements & interfaces.
• Translate the business and technical requirements into 9-1-1 applications.
• Develop & modify complex software systems using disciplined software development processes.
• Test and lead implementation of application modules, reinforcing the use of QA principles and processes, from multiple systems that have been developed or modified. Develop & execute test plans, test scenarios, test scripts and/or workflow usage.
• Ensure application meets the need of the business.
• Provide direction in evaluating system integration design to ensure that the proposed solution has considered extensibility, scalability, performance, cost-effectiveness, usability, re-use, and that management is robust and proven industry principles have been considered when developing the application.
• Work with SIP and VoIP.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A Bachelor’s Degree or greater in Computer Science or a related field
• 5 or more years developing software in the 9-1-1 or technology industry
• Knowledge of VB.NET, SQL Server and ADO.NET
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to independently make accurate and timely decisions
• Available to live and work in the St. Johnsbury, VT/Littleton, NH area

The candidates will have a qualified background in enterprise application development using Microsoft .Net technologies. Intermediate Software Developers at microDATA are highly motivated, hard working, self-motivated individuals with superior programming/systems talent . Their primary responsibility is to maintain and develop 9-1-1 software.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5 or more years development experience in Microsoft .Net language; VB.NET
• Understanding of SQL Server and T-SQL
• Ability to troubleshoot complex problems
• Multithreaded, back-end development experience
• Basic TCP/IP protocol understanding

DESIRED:

• Knowledge of TELCO fundamentals, including digital and analog trunks
• VoIP/SIP application development experience
• Web development experience, including Silverlight
• CTI Experience
• Dialogic Telephony APIs
• ‘C’ language background
