VoIP Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Technical Services Manager, the VoIP Engineer focuses on administration, configuration, support, and development of microDATA. The VoIP Engineer's primary role is to maintain microDATA systems and solutions. Act as the single point of contact on microDATA systems. The VoIP Engineer is expected to have limited travel requirements and is expected to be in the office as much as possible during normal working hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for meeting with Managers to determine system needs
  • Assist the Technical Services Team as necessary
  • Review, maintain, and implement Technology disaster recovery plan
  • Troubleshoots and resolves system service issues and OS level issues
  • Adhere to company policy
  • Assess and recommend technology infrastructure procedures and policy
  • Research, develop specifications, recommend, design, build, and implement technology infrastructure best practices as they evolve
  • Works with purchasing to order equipment for microDATA projects
  • Responsible for creation and maintenance of thorough Systems documentation
  • Will be required to carry cellular telephone and/or pager for escalations relating to his/her scope of control
  • Perform other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Expert level knowledge of Windows Desktop Operating Systems (XP Pro, Vista)
  • Expert level knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems (2003, 2008)
  • Expert level knowledge of Session Initiated Protocol (SIP)
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • CompTIA A+ Certification or commensurate experience
  • Desired Microsoft MCSA: 2003 or MCTS: 2008 Certification or ability to gain certification within first year of employment (must possess commensurate experience prior to hire)
  • At least four years' experience in a NOC-type support role or Network Administration role
  • At least one year supervisory experience in NOC-type support atmosphere
  • CCIE-Voice desired
  • Microsoft MCSE desired
  • Network+ desired
  • CISCO CCNA required
  • IP implementation and support experience with Enterprise type accounts
  • Proven success with strategic planning, process re-engineering and project management
  • Able to lead and motivate groups and individuals. Able to think creatively and strategically to successfully negotiate with individuals and groups internally and externally. Able to meet deadlines and tight time constraints
  • Must live within a 45 minute drive of the Greenwood Village office

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, computer engineer or a related field is required. Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements.
  • Preferred qualifications include; Expert level knowledge of the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP).
  • Excellent relevant experience with a CCNP cert and CCIE - Voice - level skills may apply.
  • At least five years' experience in a systems support role or other network administration role.
  • Qualified candidates will have experience with; Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008 enterprise environments and knowledge of Windows Desktop Operating Systems (XP Pro, 7).
  • Experience administering, supporting, and troubleshooting distributed IP networks, preferrably with CISCO technologies is desired.
  • Basic knowledge of standard programming languages, preferably Microsoft .NET (Visual Basic, C#).
  • Working experience with enterprise-grade server hardware.
  • Experience with relational database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting for long periods of time in front of a computer monitor
  • Traveling via roads or air to visit, work or train at customer locations and operating a motor vehicle when on assignments
  • Vision must be sufficient to use computer monitor, telephone and other required office equipment
  • Hearing must be sufficient to converse with clients that call in to the help desk
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds

Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician

Under the supervision of a NOC Supervisor; the NOC Technician monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots mission critical IP networks, third party and microDATA software, and various computer hardware and peripherals; prepares documentation; provides assistance to internal and external customers; and performs other duties as directed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Acts as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and software.
  • Staffs a centralized Help Desk to facilitate exchange of information and advice.
  • Implements solutions or notifies escalation specialists as required.
  • Travel to remote customer sites to install, configure, and troubleshoot microDATA NG9-1-1 Systems.
  • Serve as the first escalation point for more complex technical support issues (i.e. Level II Tech Support).
  • Assists with configuration and staging of microDATA and Customer hardware and software.
  • Mentors TSS Level I staff.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Based on area of responsibility and departmental need, may be required to serve in an on-call rotational schedule for 24x7 escalation support and may also be required to work weekends, evenings, and non-standard work hours as mission needs arise.
  • May be required to travel to remote customer sites for support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Expert level knowledge of Windows Desktop Operating Systems (XP Pro, Vista).
  • Expert level knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems (2003, 2008).
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • CompTIA A+ Certification or commensurate experience.
  • Microsoft MCDST certification preferred.
  • Desired Microsoft MCSA: 2003 or MCTS: 2008 Certification or ability to gain certification within first year of employment (must possess commensurate experience prior to hire).
  • At least three years' experience in a Help Desk-type support role or Network Administration role.

Technical Support Specialist II

Under the supervision of a Technical Services Manager; the Technical Support Specialist (TSS) Level II installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and upgrades computer hardware, third party and microDATA software, networks, and peripherals; prepares documentation; provides assistance to internal and external customers; and performs other duties as directed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Monitors network devices for anomalies and reports/troubleshoots issues
  • Acts as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and software; staffs a centralized Help Desk to facilitate exchange of information and advice; implements solutions or notifies escalation specialists as required
  • As the first level for reporting, takes an in-depth role in the diagnosis and resolution of technical support issues (i.e., Level 1 Tech Support)
  • Works shifts in a 24/7/365 Network Operations Center


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As directed by NOC Supervisor or higher authority

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Expert level knowledge of Windows Desktop Operating Systems (XP Pro, Vista, Win7)
  • Basic knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems (2003, 2008)
  • Knowledge of network management tools (HP openview, SolarWinds, net cool etc.) a plus
  • Associates Degree
  • Desired CompTIA A+ Certification or ability to gain certification within 6 months of employment
  • Desired CompTIA Network+ Certification or ability to gain certification within 6 months of employment
  • At least one year experience in a Help Desk-type support role or Network Administration role
  • Live within 45 minutes of the office
