Martinsville, VA– The innovative Martinsville-Henry County PSAP is up and running with microDATA’s leading edge
9-1-1 mapping systems.
Martinsville-Henry County (M-HC) – which has used microDATA’s software solutions for the past four years – successfully cut to the new xT Enterprise and x9GIS integrated software for: Map-Centric call taker display; computer aided dispatch (CAD); automatic vehicle location (AVL); GIS data maintenance and; administration.
The xT Enterprise solution is the next generation of microDATA’s longstanding and trusted AT-Enterprise PSAP map display. M-HC call takers get all the functionality they are used to with the original ALI-Trakker software, but with the advantages of an intuitive and well thought out solution in xTrakker, which is built on ESRI’s ArcObjects 9.x. Among the many benefits call takers will experience is the ability to have a fully customizable screen.
Added Flexibility
They also get the added flexibility of utilizing a PSAP map display that was developed to read either an ArcSDE or personal geodatabase, which was important to M-HC as they were migrating their 9-1-1 GIS DBMS from microDATA’s e9GIS to x9GIS – both developed as extensions to ESRI’s industry-standard GIS maintenance tools. e9GIS works with ArcView
3.x, while x9GIS takes advantage of ArcGIS 9.x’s more complete tool set.
For the administrators, xAdmin is an integral part of xT Enterprise, which allows for simple management of users and discrepancies. It also has robust reporting capabilities, including being able to create customized reports.
The final component of M-HC’s migration to microDATA’s next generation software solutions was accomplished with xCAD and xAVL. Combined, these new solutions allow for complete integration with Southern Software’s Geo-Trak CAD. This lets each and every call taker have a complete picture of what is going on around the city and county, providing superb situational awareness.
Staying on the Cutting Edge
M-HC was chosen by microDATA to be the first to roll out The X-Solution™, because of the PSAP’s solid reputation of staying on the cutting edge of 9-1-1 technologies. It is now operating at six call taker positions in the Communications Center (handling 200,000 calls a year) and at one in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). It is also installed at the desks of the Director, Operations Supervisor and the GIS Manager.

“We were perfectly happy with what microDATA had done for us in the past” said Wes Ashley, Director of the Martinsville-Henry County PSAP, “but when we saw how much more the xT Enterprise and x9GIS could do for us, we knew we had to have it, taking us into the future.”
“We were very impressed with the dedication and commitment that the entire microDATA team demonstrated to ensure a successful implementation” said Mr. Ashley.
Teamwork
The multi-disciplinary team from microDATA that worked with M-HC to install, train and make the cut was Dave Caplan, Project Lead, Nathan Wilcox, Operations Manager, Matt Clark, GIS Programmer, Derek Curtis, Customer Support Technician and Tammy McMichael, Technical Sales Manager.
microDATA, Inc., located in St. Johnsbury, VT has been providing the 9-1-1 industry with integrated GIS-centric solutions longer than any other provider.
