xSwitch is included in xT911, our Next Generation call handling solution, and may also be purchased separately.
microDATA’s NG9-1-1 Soft Switch Intelligence
xSwitch™ is an Internet Protocol (IP)-based, i3-aligned software-based switch that combines the functionality of a selective router (xSR™), Emergency Services Routing Proxy (ESRP) and private branch exchange (xPBX™). xSwitch™ is the processing center and manager for all 9-1-1 calls routed to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) using Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), the protocol specified as an i3 standard by the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).
xSwitch™ leverages the power of an Emergency Services Internet Protocol Network (ESInet), both within and outside of the PSAP. In addition to landline and wireless calls, xSwitch™ can also process Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls and IP communications – as well as instant messaging (IM), video and future technologies - natively from the Internet or the ESInet. With xSwitch™ there are no proprietary hardware lines, station card modules or proprietary equipment to be modified or replaced when technology changes.
- Aligns with emerging NG9-1-1 and i3 standards
- An IP soft-switch with automatic failover to a redundant backup with no manual intervention or A/B switching
- When deployed in redundant pairs employs geographic diversity, ensuring survivability
- Built-in Automatic Call Distributor (ACD) and third party call control to avoid lost calls due to customer premise equipment (CPE) failure or catastrophic event
- Maintains connectivity with the caller and will automatically, within seconds, redeliver the call to an alternate position or even a SIP phone
- An IP-based phone system that processes landline, wireless and VoIP calls and will support future media types without forklift of proprietary equipment
- Runs on Common Off The Shelf (COTS) equipment - a cost-effective alternative to proprietary, hardware-based CPE
- Share call information fluidly between PSAPs and first response units on a secure, private network
- Routes calls spatially, in addition to traditional tabular routing
Interfaces with existing equipment
- A system that is easy to install and support, and scalable to future needs, with unlimited trunking capability, and no interface cards used.
